Flushing Hospital Revitalization
Flushing Hospital recently celebrated its 125th Birthday; soon after, it almost went into bankruptcy and was in danger of closing. One of the oldest hospitals in New York City, Flushing Hospital (now taken over by Jamaica Hospital) has seen better days.
It is extremely important to revitalize Flushing Hospital. Not only is it a major healthcare center, but it is also an employer, with numerous professional offices on surrounding blocks, and other retail businesses, all relying on Flushing Hospital to remain a viable entity.
As your City Councilman, I would assist Flushing Hospital to construct a brand new, state-of-the- art facility and parking garage on the parking lot directly to the west of the hospital on 45thAvenue. By constructing a new pavilion that would attract high-quality, specialized healthcare workers, and building a parking garage that would alleviate some of the more serious parking problems for those visiting the facility, it is my hope that Flushing Hospital will continue to serve northeast Queens for the next century and beyond.
